A Week, Briefly (April 18, 2022)

Little Princess is rarely not studying science in some  form or other.  This picture was taken before 6 am one morning!

Sir Walter Scott's sister lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday.  It was both expected and unexpected because she was supposed to have several weeks to several months left to live, but suddenly her heart gave out.

Sir Walter Scott never got to see her, but he did take the trip he had planned, and he spent time with his brothers and his mom.

In the last hours of her life, we were able to send text messages to her oldest daughter (our niece/cousin), who then read the messages to her mom.

We dropped our usual Morning Meeting in order to have a special session about life and death and resurrection.

The kids took it hard.  We spent a long time just being together and acknowledging feelings of loss and sorrow.

We will be taking a trip to Utah for a memorial in her honor in the near future.

Otherwise we were busy with babies, school, and a psych appointment for Beowulf.  He's added a med to reduce violence.  We'll address his ADHD if this med works.

 So far, so good.

Even though I gave up on trying to do individual school with him for the latter of part of the week, he did finish a book that he read aloud to me.

We finished In Search of a Homeland, and we started Augustus Caesar's World.

We also finished A Bear Called Paddington and started Pippi Longstocking.

We conducted school as usual all week long, but spring weather looks to have finally arrived, and we may take several breaks in the weeks to come.

Pixie finished her first week of a new semester and a new job (working at the campus Outdoor Recreation Center).  She says both are going to be great!  She's being stretched to learn new skills, and she likes the feeling.

Belle's final exam for College Algebra is scheduled for May 10th.  After that, the only thing standing between her and a high school diploma is finishing her required hours for US Constitution.

I just realized I have a graduation to plan!!😮

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. That is so hard. Wow! The year is wrapping up and graduation is right around the corner.

  2. I'm so sorry for your loss! :(

Pippi is on my list to read aloud to my students next year. I literally ran across it yesterday and added it.

Jack graduates in 3 weeks, and aside from sharing the date with everybody and thinking, "What am I going to wear to that?" I've done nothing.
