A Week, Briefly (June 13, 2022)

It was Girls' Camp week.   This is the only picture I have so far from camp.  The other girls said she was a Disney princess because she made friends with the wildlife. Monday was about running errands and packing. Nature Angel and Little Princess left on Tuesday morning, and came home on Friday afternoon. Sir Walter Scott left on Tuesday morning, and came back that afternoon because he was one of the drivers and hauled the trailer of luggage and supplies down to camp (96 miles one way). Belle and Ladybug left on Tuesday morning, came back late Tuesday night, and repeated that action on Wednesday and Thursday so that Ladybug could participate in camp.  Belle was Ladybug's 1:1 chaperone. Then on Friday morning, Sir Walter Scott left to pick up the girls and the trailer. Belle had to work a full day starting at 7:30 am on Friday. The rest of us did our best to survive. Monday: 11 kids 11 and under Tuesday: 10 kids 10 and under Wednesday: 11 kids 10 and under Thursday: 10 kids 10

I've been lying on the floor in what our kid yoga calls Starfish pose, but is apparently called Shavasana by true yoga enthusiasts.  I'm not doing any real yoga . . . just lying there, feeling my body rest . . . and listening to gentle podcasts (WEH, John Bytheway,  Scholé   Sisters, General Conference, etc.). If I time it right, I get 10-15 minutes of quiet before a baby wakes up from a nap and crawls onto me or a kid comes in asking a question. We've been in a season of peace long enough that I'm actually starting to recover from the trauma of behaviors and fears we've lived in for so long.  I can feel my body and mind loosening the knots that have held me so tightly.  I'm laughing more.  (I am guiltily admitting here that those silly Facebook time suckers are part of my personal therapy.  I laughed so hard I cried at a collection of Amazon reviews the other night.) And it's nice to be not doing formal school right now because as I'm healing, I'm

Ooooh!  He was so mad at me for not reading the next books about Mary Poppins!  He was mad enough that he pulled the anthology out and started reading himself!  (Just what I hoped he would do--or hoped any of the other kids would do. 😉)  Belle got the job at the chiropractic office!  They wanted someone immediately, but she needed to give 2 weeks' notice at Freddie's, so she'll be working as many hours at the new job as she can squeeze in around the old job.  After 2 interviews and one 4 hour job-shadowing experience, she's really excited to start work and develop new skills.  She'll work full-time at this job for the foreseeable future. I'm not sure if I ever recorded that Pixie was accepted by the International Language Program to teach English in Uganda!  She's got to get a passport and a whole bunch of immunizations . . . as well as funding.  She's knee-deep in paperwork and preparation for leaving in January.  I'm super excited for her!  She&
