Academy Resources 2018-19
Academy was fun this year with a focus on Westward Expansion in American History and a sweeping read of the History of the World. We learned a little general science, read a bunch of classic literature, and fell in love with the poetry of Langston Hughes.
Here, in list form, is what we studied. I think the only book we didn't complete was the Usborne Science Experiment book--otherwise, we read it all, from cover to cover!

Awesome! What a wonderful list.
ReplyDeleteBlessings. Dawn
Oreo really is coming out with moon phase cookies for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Because I live in a NASA city, it’s starting to be a big deal here, and if I drive down NASA road, there are all kinds of signs and preparations for the anniversary. We found this beautifully inspirational speech by JFK on YouTube. It’s a good one to memorize, at least just the first few lines about mankind. Just don’t get sucked into the rabbit hole of the conspiracy theories about his death if you do watch it. So easy to do.

Every time I see your book lists I am in awe! You read so much good literature! We need to read aloud together more!
ReplyDeleteAnd when I see your unit studies, I think I should try them! :) I think we might serve our families best by teaching with our unique strengths, following promptings when to branch out and develop weaknesses into strengths, and simply being grateful for the experiences we are having as homeschoolers!
