2025-26: That's a Wrap!

 All of our group lessons:  done.

Ladybug's individual lessons: done.


Mister Man's individual lessons:  done.
Brother's individual lessons:  done
Beowulf's individual lessons: done
Lola's individual lessons: done


Baymax's individual lessons: done

Little Princess' individual lessons:  pending

But, as I wrote last week, she has reasons for that pending status that we are still trying to resolve.

We've had very quiet days for the past two weeks.

One day we went to the park.



Most of the kids skated.


Mister Man doesn't have skates that fit, so he found stuff to do.

How grateful I am that my kids know how to find stuff to do!

One day the boys and Sir Walter Scott had a church camp out.

We girls watched movies while I did Lola's hair.

We've been to lots of medical/dental/psych appointments. 

Everyone is okay, but there have been quite a few red flags on lab work that have had to be evaluated.

And I have yet another oral surgery necessary. 

*sigh*

Little Princess went to Encampment Staff Training.

She's ready to help lead Encampment!

For the summer, we are going to keep reading The Golden Book of Natural History, and we will have a novel going that will count for afternoon reading and/or evening reading, depending on who's home and when.

We're going to finish Gentle Ben tonight.

The girls and I are off to Girls' Camp this week.  

I filled the freezer with meals and left them a menu plan.

As soon as we get home, we're taking Little Princess to the airport so she can attend Space Ops Camp in Colorado.

Without little kids, I'm really at a loss for what else to do this summer (that will fit the budget). 

I'm researching!

And that's why I missed a week of posting about our homeschool. I was so sick. So. Sick. But now I'm okay, and my family helped me every day, and we didn't do much school, but we did what we could, and it's okay. A Week, Briefly (Summer is not over)

Last August I was not ready for school to start, but I did it anyway because I thought I should. And in September I had mental health crisis of the most serious kind. This August I am not ready for school to start. And I'm honoring that. However, I am ready to document brief moments of the beautiful learning that my kids engage in when I'm not running school. This week Rose Red is in Florida at a surfing camp.  She's with a sweet friend.  I could not be happier for her to have this experience away from home, at the beach, out-of-doors, physically active, and just plain cool. As far as I'm concerned, this is a quarter of a credit of P.E. The rest of us are at home.  My teens are reveling in their last days of bizarre teen sleeping schedules before early morning seminary begins next week. A Week, Briefly (In Which the Week Gets Rough)

Sunday We made "gingerbread" houses after church. Then we went for a walk.  Then we started reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever .  I know the story of Christ's birth should be my favorite Christmas story, but it's really The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. It's about discovering the power and love of Christ's birth, so that's pretty good, isn't it?  Monday Lots of folks are on Christmas break, but my big girls still have seminary until the 21st, and I don't really know what to do with the kids that prefer routine to break, so we're sticking with our school routine until inspiration comes. Honestly, my crew NEED to be outside a lot, and they NEED structure to their days, so dumping it all in favor of "relaxing" into holiday activities is an absolute joke.
