Catching Up In November

I've had unusually full Sundays for the past couple of weeks. As Sunday is my writing day, I've not been able to keep up here. I've got just a few minutes to sit with my computer, and I at least want to jot just a few notes.
Morning Meetings continue as usual. We don't mess with our Morning Meetings around here! We're nearly done with Saints volume 1 and our 2025 Come, Follow Me curriculum. We'll be ready to dive into the Old Testament again in 2026. And the kids are starting to get antsy about picking our our annual reading of The Jesus Storybook Bible that we start right after Thanksgiving every year.

The high schoolers and I finished A Girl of the Limberlost, and we are about 1/3 of the way through The Education of Little Tree right now. We also completed our studies of North and South Korea, and we are making progress on Japan. We are reading The Master Puppeteer as our literature accompaniment.

Independently, each high schooler is making progress in his/her independent subjects.
Ladybug finished her 3rd worktext in her CLE Math 5 program with an average in the high 80s--a truly excellent accomplishment for our girl! She was very discouraged to score lower on her most recent quiz in her 4th worktext, and that discouragement has been evident in her behaviors. I'm doing my best to be as encouraging as possible while also keeping healthy boundaries for how she treats us.
Mister Man is really enjoying his electronics study. I showed him how to find videos illustrating some of the more difficult concepts, and he's very happily used that privilege with care. I love to see how his notebook is filling with narrations and drawings.
Little Princess is working hard on her pre-calculus, physics, writing, and all of the other things she's doing.
Just this past week, I assigned these three to do some nature observations and write about them--inspired by some descriptive passages in The Education of Little Tree. They are engaging writers.
We completed our study of the digestive system as well as a comprehensive review of our anatomy lessons so far. We also began the unit on health and nutrition.
We're up to 21 US presidents.
We're loving our poetry book.
We read The Cat Who Went to Heaven, and now we're reading Peter Pan.
We've had interruptions to our days--medical/dental/psych appointments, babies, mild colds, etc.--that have kept us from our daily walks.
I still get out in the early, early morning, but the walks with the kids and dogs have been difficult to maintain. However, I keep putting them on my daily agenda with the hope that by reaching for a goal, we'll eventually achieve it.

We've had our two dance performances for the semester, and we're on break until January. Both shows were pure joy from beginning to end. Our show is so much more fun than I thought it was going to be!
The boys have been making progress toward their first CAP promotion, and Little Princess has been working very had at her own promotions. She has 3 of them in progress now, so it is likely once she completes the first one, she'll be able to promote quickly for a season.
Church activities continue to be a joy--various kids have done gingerbread houses, yoga/relaxation, car repairs, scripture challenges, letter writing, games, and temple service.
One of the kids brought up Christmas School last week, and I just about keeled over.
I usually prepare carefully for Christmas School, but I've not done a thing this year!!
I'm now going to get thinking.
