Little Princess Took a Trip

Well, Sir Walter Scott is finally home after over 40 hours of interrupted travel.

Little Princess is still on the trip because even though Part 1 was with Sir Walter Scott, part 2 is with Pixie in Idaho.

But Sir Walter Scott had to deal with a dead alternator on the way home!

It's over, though, and we were very, very blessed by Sir Walter Scott's brother and by one of his childhood church leaders who still loves him as a son and came to the rescue.

We've done not a lot of school with Little Princess gone; we've done math, grammar, reading, copywork, and a little bit of anatomy, but we let most of the other subjects slide in favor of living slowly with Dad and a sister gone.

Before they left, we did do 2 days of reading A Girl of the Limberlost and notes about North Korea.  We had our end-of-the-month interviews with the high-schoolers, and I took an entire page of notes about hopes, helps, accomplishments, and worries for each of them.

The church activity for the week was a general conference trivia game for everyone.

Then it was time for the trip to begin!

They left at 2 am on Wednesday with Sir Walter Scott at the wheel overnight.

But when the new day dawned, Little Princess took the wheel.

First stop was the United States Air Force Academy . . . Little Princess' dream school.

They took a tour and then were allowed to wander about exploring.

I haven't talked with her about it.  She and I definitely prefer talking in person to phone conversations.  Sir Walter Scott told me, though, that she did like the school very much.

Random selfie that I like

There are no pictures of the dark park and the time they spent star-gazing.

But I hear it was a tremendous success!

Then there was time at the Provo City Center Temple and at the cemetery where several ancestors are buried.

Little Princess has a passion for family history, so I'm sure she was quite happy to listen to stories about her ancestors as she wandered the cemetery with her dad.

At home, we went to the library, went to dance, went to CAP, and took Baymax to a little party for his church class while the rest of us went to a park.

I also took the 6 kids thrift shopping with me to get some items for dance!

The weekend included the kids' last soccer session.

(Many thanks to Nature Angel for taking them to practice and taking pictures for me!)

Then it was time for General Conference!

We watched from home.

But Pixie, Little Princess, and Sir Walter Scott went to a session in person!!

It was cold and rainy outside!!

But it was warm and dry and joyful inside!

Suddenly, it was Sunday morning and time for Sir Walter Scott to head home.

Little Princess and Pixie waited for the end of the day to head north to Idaho.

I texted Little Princess this morning, but I haven't heard a word from her!  I hope she's having a wonderful time with her big sister!

That really ends our week.

General Conference was exceptional.  I feel grateful for my faith and for the many people who lead my church.

I also feel grateful for my family!!
