It Feels Like Spring!!

I don't have many pictures of the kids outside, but they spent hours outdoors every day!

Basketball
Bike riding
Reading

Walking aimlessly (Mister Man says so)
Sunbathing
Walking pets
Archery
Furniture refinishing (that's Lola)

She found this little table on the side of the road and asked if she could have it.

I was reluctant until I realized how little it really is, so I changed my mind and became delighted with this project to share with her.

We are sanding it together now.  Next steps will come soon.

There was a teeny bit of continued convalescing, too.

I've been out in the garden.

I ordered raised garden beds because our current layout is really hard to work with.

The kids put them together.

I took Nature Angel to apply for a passport!

We finally had an American Rhythm show!

Rock and Roll is Here to Stay

Rockin' Robin

Surfin' USA

Rocky Top

There are so many more dances to get pictures of!

The kids did a great job, and the audience was so, so pleased to watch the kids and then interact with them after the show.

My 6 kids in the church youth program went to the temple with about 30 other church youth.

And we had a great big church variety show on the weekend.  My youth did an American Rhythm number, and then there was a huge ward (congregation) youth number organized by the Young Women's leader.

It. Was. So. Fun.

One of the boy sections was to Baby by Justin Bieber.

And one of the girl sections was to You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift.

The girls did another routine all in 70s costumes to I Want You Back by the Jackson Five.
I never got a picture with all 3 of my teen girls visible,
so I chose this one because Ladybug's outfit was so great!

At home, we returned to our usual school routine.

It makes me smile to see my 14-year-old girl still curl up and sit on her feet with her little toes poking out behind her.

The high schoolers and I read more of To Kill a Mockingbird and The Mystery of History vol. 4.

Nature Angel officially finished her Financial Literacy course!!!!  (That was one long ride.)

The kids and I started Sing Down the Moon, continued The Story of Science: Newton in the Middle, and added 8 more states and capitals to our memorization list (only 9 to go).  I assigned them to write a narration describing life on the American frontier and to paint a watercolor of crocuses.  We did lots of oral narrations, too.

Math, Morning Meeting, and evening reading (still working on Mary Poppins) rounded out our school subjects.

And I did start The Golden Treasury of Natural History, too.

So far, we've covered trilobites.

Ladybug finished her copywork book.

On my list of important things for the coming week is purchasing Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra for Brother.  He's been without math to do for a few weeks, and he's anxious to get back into it.

While he's waiting, I pulled out an old reading comprehension workbook that was started and never finished.  It was so hard for him back when I first assigned it.  Now he says, "I really like these assignments right now.  They used to be hard, but now they're not exactly easy, but they make me think just enough."

How do I describe how grateful I am for his ability to communicate so clearly!!??!?!
