A Week, Briefly (5-17-21)

 I'm thinking of building an ark. It has been raining for so long, and there is so much more rain in the forecast! The kids love to go see the creek when it is thunderingly full, but once that thrill is over, they come back inside--wet, muddy, and hyper. Such is life. Nature Angel saw a rainbow one afternoon, so I know it won't last forever!   I actually turned on videos one afternoon when the rain left me feeling rather desperate. It was a hit with big and little kids alike! It was Planet Earth II, though, so it counts for science.   Belle had her last day of seminary for the school year.  It was a hard year with Zoom meetings and independent work, but it was lovely that the kids got to meet in-person for the final 5 weeks.     All around us the public schools are winding to a close, but we're just marching steadily along (mostly).   We've continued watching Book of Mormon videos during Morning Meeting.  But I just received delivery of...

A Week, Briefly (5/25/20)

This was a week of many highs and lows. I'm going to leave out the lows . . . which will make this a rather lopsided view of our family . . . but the highs are more fun . . . and I've already written ever so many sad posts. Most places are still closed, and the ones that are open require face masks.  I'm not willing to put face masks on my young ones who find them frightening, so we had a school day on Memorial Day . It was productive. Brother started this little Bible storybook spending a week on each story;  I would read it to him 3 times, and then he would work on reading it.  Part way through we switched to taking turns reading pages.  By the end, he was reading whole stories by himself.  He finished it on Monday. The teens and tweens wanted to catch the 50% sale at the thrift store, so they quickly made some face masks that wouldn't meet any safety standards anywhere but at least made them look compliant.
