More Seizures

Image
I was ready to post last week, but Ladybug had seizures--4 of them in 17 hours--and that rather rocked our world. She's now on an anti-seizure med, and hopefully it will work without negative side effects. I have a camera set up in her room that broadcasts to my phone that I keep on all night, so that I can be aware of her while she sleeps.  It is motion-sensitive, sending me an alert every time she moves enough to set it off.  (Thank goodness it's sensitive, but not TOO sensitive!) In addition, we're doing a mental health therapy intake appointment this week; Ladybug has an EEG scheduled; we have our usual case management appointment; we're taking the last set of two kids into the PCP to establish care; and I've got to do a pre-intake interview for a comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessment for Lola. Oh!  And we've got 7 prescriptions ready for pick-up. Through it all, I'm doing my level best to do school with the kids each day. These three have spent h...

I Got Sick

And that's why I missed a week of posting about our homeschool. I was so sick. So. Sick. But now I'm okay, and my family helped me every day, and we didn't do much school, but we did what we could, and it's okay. (So I keep telling myself every time I want to panic about how hard it is [again!] to get really going with a productive school year.} It's okay. No one died. No one abandoned the family. We didn't give up. We just had to take time off . . . during our third week. Habits we kept up because my husband and teen daughters are amazing:    Morning Meeting    Math    Cursive/Copywork    Individual Subjects    Seminary--Yes!  That started this week! Before I realized how sick I was and how awful I would eventually feel, we engaged in a little bit of what I like to call "documentary school."  This means I found a documentary online that goes with one of our areas of study, and we watched it. 1.  We watched the National Ge...

Just Missed the Tornado!

Image
Last Sunday we went over to Super Star and Mr. E--'s house to meet their puppy. She was so excited to meet us!!!! She's a blur in every picture I took, because she was in constant motion for the whole hour we were there.  We could tell she was starting to get tired as we left, so I'm sure she slept the rest of the day away, but we all had so much fun together. Monday was difficult.  I had a field trip planned, but there was just enough rain to wreck that.  The disappointment was more than Beowulf could bear, so he was irritable to the point of volatility all day.  His anger rubbed off on other kids until I was barely keeping everyone safe.  I made Brother and Beowulf (the two most likely to explode) run errands with me, and even though they like running errands, they were mad at me because I didn't give them the choice to stay home.   I found an alternate activity, but because of continued angry outbursts, I didn't feel safe taking the kids out...
